I hope Kino Lorber don't look into this thread to get any ideas on their next projects.

Would probably make their heads spin.

Pretty much every reply has a different preference on their movie of choice.

Would cost them a fortune.

For the First Time (1959) Mario Lanza's last film (He passed at only 38 years of age).

I know this has already been released on the Warner Archives DVD and a German BD (I own both). But both have issues. Colors and detail are stronger on the BD, but there's some minor print damage here and there. Worth owning just for Mario's definitive rendition of Vesti La Giubba.

Hoping for a 4K UHD release with extras!

I know he also did an excellent version of Vesti La Giubba in The Great Caruso (1951) but that already has a beautifully rendered BD release.

Someone posted a very nice comparison of his 2 versions of Vesti La Giubba on YouTube.

The Mouse That Roared. I have this on laserdisc (I don’t think this was released on DVD)
Great Expectations- the David Lean film.
This was released on BluRay in other countries.
Arsenic And Old Lace. A favorite.

I own The Mouse the Roared on DVD. I think it came out in 2003.
An Australian Blu-Ray was released last year from Umbrella. Not sure if it's any good.

Wow- I guess I never researched Mouse.
You’re correct- Amazon had it, so I ordered. Thank you! 😁

This is available streaming, legally, through an odd back-door way.

You can D2D the DVD on Vudu. Since it is a Columbia movie, it propagates to other retailers using Movies Anywhere. As far as I can tell, the Vudu, Amazon and Apple streams are SD, but the Movies Anywhere stream is HD.

While there are several John Sayles films I want, my most wanted is City of Hope. It was filmed in Panavision and has never been released to home video in its proper aspect ration (it was on Amazon Prime for a while in widescreen, and it's still available to purchase there, but no physical media).

Where the heck is Moulin Rouge (2001) as it's one of the most visually stunning movies ever made and still very popular. It just shocks me this isn't available.

Is it out of print on Blu-ray? I'm asking because I know I reviewed it on Blu in 2010, but I guess knowing Fox it could be gone now.

So I wanted to vent somewhere and didn't find a thread about this (there is one for TV shows but not movies) but what are some movies that you want a modern release that you don't think will ever get one?

Mine is "The Beast of War", which is one of the best / most accurate tank movies ever created that I don't think is either old enough or popular enough to get a HD disc release.
The Corrupt Ones (1967) with Robert Stack. Elke Sommer, Nancy Kwan Crime Action Film, never released in North America on either DVD or Blu-ray.

Mountains Of The Moon: I had the wonderful widescreen laserdisc, skipped the DVD (as it used the laserdisc master) and bought the streaming version on Google Play but it's a poor transfer and wrong aspect ratio, we need a good Blu-ray.

The Abyss (with all the laserdisc extras): this is streaming on Prime, first the fullscreen HD edition, I complained several times and finally Prime put up the widescreen edition, hooray. Now we need a Blu-ray with all the laserdisc extras.

Captain Horatio Hornblower: we need the full Warner Ultra-resolution process applied to this one!

Northwest Passage: we need the full Warner Ultra-resolution process applied to this one too!

The Beans Of Egypt Maine: not available anywhere. I should have bought the DVD while it was available.

Here's a few more:
Arch Of Triumph
Big Caper
Blue Ice (I have the HBO DVD)
The Egyptian
Girl In The Headlines
Hell Is A City (I have the Anchor Bay DVD)
High Treason (I have the PAL DVD)
Night Of The Iguana
Ploughman’s Lunch (available streaming on Prime)
Spartan (available streaming)
Strange Days
When Worlds Collide (available streaming)
