I've heard of timbre matching your speakers for better sound. My fronts all match, but the surrounds will not. What does this apply to on the speaker? The 2 brands I'm looking at,both have aluminum domes, which is the same as my mains. Is this the key or should I be looking at something else.Thanx for any help.

Ideally, they should all match. It is not as critical for the rears, but I can tell you that it made a very big difference when I matched all my speakers.

Material of the drivers, crossover and construction of the enclosure all contribute to the "voice" of a speaker.

I'd listen to each with the same music, as well as your mains, and pick the ones that sound most similar.
