Laserdisc information (1 Viewer)

I was wondering if anyone can point me to some information on laserdiscs. I'm thinking of getting a player and would like to know what I need to look for and how much I should expect to pay. I've also heard about some need for RF demodulation and I'm a little confused there as well. I got into HT in the DVD age. So, I'm well versed there but not LDs. Thanks in advance.
