I bought it blindly, so listen to me! ;)

Watched this film on HD-DVD yesterday and I agree with the
comments that 300 is more style over substance. I also
found it to be rather slow.

On the other hand....

A day later, the film is growing on me. Thought about it as I
was falling asleep last night and felt it really was a rather good
film. It sort of has that grandeur GLADIATOR feel to it but dumbed
down to serve as a total blue screen effects experience.

The HD-DVD experience is quite good, but be aware that there is
so much intentional grain thrown into the picture that it will not
serve as demo material. It doesn't look clean, nor should it.

One of the best things about the HD-DVD is the picture-in-picture
commentary that plays the entire movie without added effects
alongside the film itself. This is the first time I ever utilized a
commentary function on a HD title simply because there were so
many instances where I was asking myself, "how did they do that?!"

Yeah, it is worth a blind buy.

Slow is not how I would describe this film, but that's just me.

I watched Wild Things last night on BD, talk about trash. :D

Wild Things is my kind of trash...Denise Richards...yes!
My Blu-ray of 300 shipped. Its a blind buy for me, but it SOUNDS like something id like. Over the top action, popcorn flick.

I love Wild Things. To me, that's trash done well.
I had a big problem with Sin City, and thats keeping me away from 300.
Since the former was also supposed to be a faithful and verbatim translation, my problems seem to be with Millers writing more than anything else.
With SC I could never get a handle on whether the film was intentionally a parody of film noir, or if it didn't realize it was a parody. I kind of get that same vibe with 300, this time with the sword and sandle genre.

Everyone else I know (all artists) loved it though.

Nothing supposed about it.

Not only was the dialogue word for word (with some minor trimming), but the comic frames were pretty much a storyboard for the film. One time I grabbed my SC comics and sat there watching the movie and comparing it to the comic book. Not much difference at all.

I wanted to see it at the theater, but missed out

Will be watching it this weekend

If you're looking for over the top action, you're going to be disappointed. The trailer promises far more than the movie is able to deliver. Great trailer, so-so movie.

WOW! Who knew this could get so much passion on both sides. Everyone is making great points. Still have not been able to get to target. So will have to see what happens.

I saw this in IMAX, and I'm sure it looks amazing in HD. That said, I was pretty disappointed. THAT said, I don't recommend blind buys to anyone anymore - especially myself!
