OK-I'm sure this question has been asked before. I'm ready to set up my Home Theater System and will be able to control the lighting. The plan is to watch TV & DVD's on the same system. I also have about $10,000-13,000 to start. What should I get?

I think that you better provide a lot more information

What size room do you have
What size screen do you want
Do you need both audio and video advice
Are you most interested in DVD/High definition, or regular cable/satellite
etc, etc.

Your best approach to getting information is to review the various areas in the forum. Then ask specific questions, either in the appropriate forum or in this forum.

For what its worth. I had a 27" tv and a dvd player six months ago. I now have a 6.1 surround system, a front projector, high definition receiver, and all associated accessories. Thanks to this forum and the AVS forum, I have learned an incredible amount. Ask the right questions, and do your research, and you will be very happy with your system.

My advice is to not skimp on the receiver/amp and speakers. A good set of matching speakers and a nice high current amp will last you for years.

Also, I know that if I were dealing with that kind of budget, I would personally consider a front projection home theatre for the movie watching and a smaller RPTV to handle the TV watching as well. Just a small thought.
