Help me with a buying or upgrade decision. (1 Viewer)

Looking to upgrade a EAD Encore to the Ovation which costs about $850 or would it be wise to sell the unit in order to get something esle for about the selling price i am likely to get plus the cost of the upgrade..(~$1600)...this is used MC-1 country. Is that an upgrade though? I like the sound of the EAD but have not been able to compare with other popular units like the Athem AVM-2, B&K REf30, Proceed AVP, Meridian 565 and a few others in its price range (used). I hear great things about the MC-1 and I am more HT oriented...about 60/40 but SACD is important too however..I am stumped and need a bit of advice. If anyone has been through this before let me know what you did..thanks!

No ideas on a preamp? I do know that these are rather older model prepros and therefore not alot of data or users any longer however..
