Hi guys. About a month ago I purchased a PT-47WX33. It doesn't seem like a popular model, but its basically the same as a WX53. Anyway, its been great, I'm very happy with it. However the last few days I've noticed the convergence is out very close to the far right side. I did the 9pt user convergence and its bang on, but it doesn't really go the far right edge. I'm thinking that I'll need to get into the service menu to set that up. A few questions:

1) How do I get into that menu? I tried the steps in on panny-dot-tv and it didn't work.

2) Do I need a calibration DVD like Avia to do these adjustments?

3) I know that messing things up in this menu can really be a problem, but is getting in to do say a 64pt convergence easy?

4) Am I on the right track? Is there a bigger issue I'm missing?

Thanks guys.

1. Call Panasonic's 800# and ask for the service manual (not the product manual that came with your TV, the service manual) for your set - that should include information as to how to enter serviceman mode.

2. Having a calibration disc such as Avia or (D)VE is essential if you want to calibrate from serviceman mode.

3. A good 64pt conversion is fairly easy to do. A "perfect" 64pt conversion is just about impossible.

3b. Speaking of messing things up - be sure to write down all original values in case you accidentally change something.

4. Don't go into serviceman mode unless you're real comfortable and confident in what you are doing - and if you have a certain familiarity and understanding with what it is you want to do.

I emailed Panasonic and they said that they only provide service manuals to "authorized service centers". Is there a 3rd party that I can get one from? Is this something new?

I ordered Video Essentials so that should help me out, but as I understand it, I can not do more than 9pt convergence without service mode, correct?

Also, could this convergence problem on one edge of the set be related to anything placed nearby, like speakers, receiver, etc?

Thanks.

Greetings

I would try the service menu access procedure again. They have not changed it for their RPTV's this year.

Still the vol=0
chan 124
timer =30 ...

etc ...

I'd just like to bring up this thread again. I've been doing some reading but haven't done any adjustments yet. It is difficult tracking down decent instructions on the service menu adjustments. Are there more complete sites out there than panny.tv?

I want to adjust convergence, and possibly horizontal alignment... is this relatively easy with a video essentials or avia dvd?

And finally, what is an ISF specialist going to cost me if I decide to go that route. Any recommendations in Vancouver Canada? Any specific benefits that they can offer? This is a relatively new set.

Thanks again
