I need tomake a new run of the cable tv coax in my house. What is the best coax to pickup for this task? and what type splitter do you recommend? Part of this is for a future cale modem connection if that matters.

Try and buy Belden 1694a cable. Amazing difference over regular Coax cables. Like cleaning your windows after winter. I use it for catv and cable modem. Slight increase in download speed and a noticeable improvement in on-screen graphics which surprised me. Not likely you will need to update for any future technology either. This is the cable that is used by Microsoft's new media center as well as Skywalker ranch.

Mark, Thanks for answering.
Parts Express has Belden RG6 cable on sale (PN #109-218).
Is this equivalent stuff? It says catv and CM (cable modem?) ready.
$60 for 1000 ft. on sale this weekend.

How big a difference is there between RG6 and RG6U (is this quad shielded?)?
