Are There Any Canadian R1 Releases Better than US R1 Releases? (1 Viewer)

Didn't I read that the Canadian GWH is not "true" 16X9 but a scaled non-anamorphic transfer or something? Similar to the old Canadian "anamorphic" Pulp Fiction?

I really want that eXistenZ disc. I sold my US copy about three years ago and never got around to ordering the other because I can't find it for less than $20 shipped.

This debate was ended long ago. BV claimed that the aliance version was "fake 16x9" to make them look better for having shafted us with a 4x3 lbxed DVD in the US.
The Alliance turned around and said that BV was WRONG, and that they had prepared a real 16x9 master from the source film elements.
It's a real 16x9 transfer (the Canadian R1 Aliance version) as dvdfile's review (and others) have demonstrated.

Similar to the old Canadian "anamorphic" Pulp Fiction

I've never heard anybody claim the "old" Alliance Atlantis Pulp Fiction release was anamorphic, and it definitely isn't. It is a better transfer than the old USA release, and has some extra deleted scenes, but both are just letterboxed.
