Just arrived yesterday.
Directv is linked under settings.
I have the Denon 3400

When I switch over to the Amazon app on the 4K player I get 5.1 so I’m not sure what’s going on.

What about the Vudu app? So DirecTV is your TV provider? DirecTV is my TV provider and I don't have any of those issues with my three 4KATV units. Perhaps, you have a lemon.

I'm not sure what else to suggest, Tony. I have a Denon 3300, which is almost the same as your 3400 -- mine's just a year older, but their features are almost identical (yours supports HEOS speakers and mine doesn't). I know there were some issues with Amazon Prime audio being 2.0 only for some programs, but I thought someone else here mentioned that issue got resolved. I am still using my Roku Ultra for Amazon, so haven't been able to confirm that.

The only peculiarity I get with the TCM app on the ATV4K is that about once a month I am forced to re-authenticate with a new code. My provider is Comcast Xfinity, which may be part of the issue. I know Robert said in the past he doesn't have that issue with DirecTV. I have never been required to re-login to any other app, though. I'm mostly using the ATV4K for iTunes, TCM, Vudu and NHL.tv -- and occasionally Amazon. I have used the NBC Sports and Fox Sports apps a few times, too, and those required authentication via my Xfinity account (which worked fine)

I had previous had problems linking the Food Network app. After several months of not working it started working again.

Yeah it’s odd.
Pic 1 is a show from Amazon
Pic 2 is Skyscraper info from Vudu
Pic 3 is the info on my Denon
Pic 4 is a trailer on ITunes trailers which apparently is only 2.0 also.

I guess I might need to return and exchange from amazon.

Well.

All of a sudden all my apps are logged in.

So that resolved itself.
Apple stuff is weird.

Still Not sure how to resolve the Atmos sound.
Only comes through on Itunes.
I'm watching Knowing and Skyscraper on Vudu and the specs indicate that Atmos is availalble but
when you play it I only get Multi-In sound and PCM signal.
Same on Amazon but only 2 channel stereo.

NetFix is also Multi-In
Anything that is 5.1 is multi-in PCM.

Gotta be something in settings iether on Denon or Atv..

Are you sure the firmware is up to date on the AppleTV? I know Amazon used to only be 2.0 sound until a firmware update fixed it.

I found something on Reddit that is exactly what is going on for me with audio.

I searched this subreddit and didnt really find anything conclusive.

I have a Denon 3400 hooked up to my B7A. I have a few devices connected to the 3400, but Im specifically working on my Apple TV 4K and my Xbox One X.

On the apple TV 4k - if I chose "best sound available" in the audio setting, it sets the receiver to Multi In and PCM and Digital little boxes pop up. Also - under audio output settings, it gives me the option of chosing the apple tv or the denon. If I chose the denon, when i start a movie, the 3400 jumps to the heos screen and only plays the audio from the movie. once i set it back to apple tv as the output device, it plays fine, but only multi-in.

What is the proper settings here? As I understand it, multi-in the Denon is doing the decoding and I should stay away from chosing Dolby Digital as that means the apple tv is decoding (which is a re-decode).

@TonyD Try going to your settings on your 4KATV. Make sure you have the following audio settings:

Audio Output: HDMI
Audio Format: Auto, Dolby Atmos when available
Audio Mode: Auto

It Is.
Has been.

Maybe this is the way a Denon displays the 5.1 audio
Although that doesn't explain the No Atmos on Vudu.

I"m thinking of upgrading My Netflix just to see if the Atmos will work there.

I don't know what to tell you. This morning I was messing around a little bit with Amazon and Vudu on one of my 4KATV. I got Dolby Atmos on my Vudu titles that offered it. On Amazon, I got the Jack Ryan Amazon series on Dolby Atmos, but I couldn't find any other titles that played Dolby Atmos. All of the UHD titles I sampled on Amazon had only 5.1 Dolby.

Well at least you get 5.1 on Amazon.
I still only get 2.0

There are people over at Avs forum that aLso only get 2.0 and can’t get the Atmos to show for Jack Ryan.

Still can’t get Atmos on vudu

I even hooked it up to my 4K tv in the bedroom to see if it made a difference and it doesn’t.

I’m missing something.

So, I don’t know what’s going on.

I just plugged the Atv into the 4K tv.
I usually have it on the 1080 big tv.

Finally got Atmos to appear on Jack Ryan while on the 4K tv.
Plugged the hdmi back into the 1080 tv and it still has Atmos.

Well after i turned everything off then went back in I lost Atmos on Ryan again.

Plugged it back into the 4K tv, reset it and Atmos back again.

Now it’s back on the big tv and still there.

For how long, who knows.

So maybe Amazon Video With Atmos has some kind of issue with being connected to non 4K TVs.

But even with that I have it right now on the non 4K tv.

Still not with Vudu though.

The odyssey continues.
