So pleased, and not at all surprised, to see Singin' in the Rain, my favorite movie musical, at no.1. Though West Side Story is more than worthy of the number one spot too, but I'm glad it's an MGM musical that rules this once hugely popular genre.
It's a fine list except for #25. "Fiddler on the Roof" or "Oliver!" are much more memorable movies than "Moulin Rouge!" I guess the younger generation of AFI voters put that one over the top.
Wow - 42 years after losing the Best Picture Oscar to "My Fair Lady", "Mary Poppins" comes out ahead at last.
Where the heck is the Rocky Horror Picture Show on this list? It's one of the biggest cult classics of all time with wonderful music. Ah well. I love it.
Thought the list was mostly spot on. Just would have loved to see Rocky in there.
