I just looked at the Seattle Cinerama site and it is so interesting to me how tickets are selling for the 70mm festival. There are three showings of 2001 and they will surely sell out, as there are not many tickets left. But what is interesting to me is the other titles - there are hundreds of tickets left for E.T., Top Gun and Ghostbusters - but Indian Jones/Last Crusade is almost sold out. I could understand better if it were Raiders but I would have thought there was at least as much affection (if not more) for E.T., Top Gun and Ghostbusters as for Last Crusade.

I wonder if the condition of the prints for the screenings are known by the locals there - I wouldn’t be surprised if at least one of those titles had gone all pink and the audience there already knows that and is steering clear.

Your post makes it sound as if you've already seen the new UHD release. How did you manage to do that?

Hi. Amazon has it out as a Pre-Order... And they show the front & back....And it does have SDH in English...
It's on my pre-order.

The condition of the Seattle 70mm prints was good to very good! Great time!

I viewed the "4K IMAX" presentation of 2001 at 3 different local theatres over the weekend prior to Labor Day.

The version presented did not exhibit any of the mastering errors present on the current bluray or previous DCP presentations.

During the "Dawn of Man" sequences, the sky looked correct with none of the scotchgard brush strokes visible on the back-projected sky.
