Loved seeing Martian Manhunter.

Never cared for Cyborg in any version.
I know they needed to connect him to the Mother box but to me MM was a real Justice Leaguer and Cyborg was a f-in.

Doubtful I will watch the b&w version, just don’t see the point.

Re-reading the Theatrical thread I saw that I wrote exactly almost word for word the same thing about Cynorg four years ago.

I loved this new movie.

But I don't think Cyborg belonged in the series either. In this expanded 4 hour film, the character did work a million times better than he did in the original 2-hour film. It worked really well actually.

But the character being in the film to begin with was what aggravated me. I don't "hate" the Cyborg character, as Robert wondered. I actually love the character. But the MM should have filled this slot.

One thing DC keeps messing up are their own wonderful source stories. They keep pulling bits from one story here, and a random bit from there, then mashing them together and ruining two original stories at once. Cyborg was a totally original character created for Titans. For decades, he was a cornerstone of those stories. Only lately has he been chunked him from that and shoe-horned into the Justice League movie, and in order to confuse viewers even more, randomly shoe-horned into the Doom Patrol TV series. But not the Titans show where he belonged.

I know comics stories are fluid. But imagine one day if Lord of the Rings gets remade, the filmmakers decided to remove Gandalf or Legolas, and just replace one of them with some random character from The Hobbit story because they also existed in the same universe.

IIRC, Martian Manhunter has been a big part of the animated DC TV shows/movies for quite some time.

I feel like people who haven’t read the comics or aren’t familiar with them don’t care about those shows.

And originally Snyder didn't plan on MM at the end...it was supposed to be a Green Lantern (not the one Reynolds played). But WB nixed that so Snyder went with MM.

Ok, I've seen the new cut, and re-watched the 2017 and now I have a problem! I'd like to re-edit it myself, and probably am doing it automatically in my mind anyway. I'd take the Snyder cut, but add all the more intimate scenes where characters are just talking to each other. These often seem to fill in parts missing, and fill in relationships not seen the 2021 cut. I'd certainly dump the filler scenes with the Russian family.

They should care about the animated shows. Although DC's doesn't have a perfect record when it comes to animated shows, the quality of their animated comic-book movies and TV shows has been more consistent than the quality of their live-action ones.

The Green Lantern animated series only lasted for two seasons, but it was heads and shoulders above the live-action movie. Both of them played fast and loose with canon, but the animated show did so in interesting ways, and pulled in all sorts of bits and pieces from the DCU, while the live-action movie was just a big mess.

I'd rather like to think that MM is Marilyn Monroe, just as BB is Brigitte Bardot. It's a much more pleasant thought.
