Dick,
The MGM releases of Jean and Manon in the UK look quite good - is there something horribly wrong with the R1 discs?
While it is by no means 'the worst dvd ever', Momentum's UK release of Casshern has even more annoying menus than The Abyss. While it may be annoying to go through a huge animated sequence anytime you want to go to a sub-menu, Casshern scales new heights of annoyance - the menus are all animated and the various options (play, chapters etc) are in screen size letters that very slowly move across. You can't make these go any faster than their snail's pace and you can't jump to later bits that haven't scrolled yet! Thank God for the ability to change audio tracks and subtitles from within the film.
