Hey guys I'm looking around for speaker wire. Does the gauge matter? The more gauge the better or the other way around?

Lower gauge wires are thicker, which is generally better. 12 and 14 gauge are about right for normal speakers. 16 gauge is a little thin especially for long runs, and 10 gauge might be useful for a passive subwoofer or something.
