Goodfellas

Pulp Fiction

Raging Bull

Amadeus

Blade Runner

Because they all need anamorphic transfers (except Amadeus, which simply needs a BETTER transfer).

Waterworld (3 hour cut!)

Frighteners SE (with the success of LOTR it seems like this one would be a natural?!)

Babe SE

I gotta say though, I'm pretty thankful for the Tombstone and Groundhog Day SE. Those were the absolute top of my lists for a long time.

What great choices people, put me down for these as well...

Anamorphic and 5.1 (where appropriate) on all the following:

Dune - plus many extras especially doc and deleted scenes

The Wild Bunch

Cross of Iron - the full uncut version, canal plus & warner have released a 16*9 version in europe

Crimson Tide

Enemy of the State

The Getaway (Sam Peckinpah)- the current version is 16*9 but the transfer quality is appaling, this need's digital restoration from a better quality element

The Dirty Dozen - this need's a new transfer with 5.1 sound remixed from the 70mm blow-up stems

Copland

La Femme Nikita - french language in 5.1 please MGM and new subtitles worth reading this time....

Grosse Point Blank

Midnight Run

Tremors

Backdraft

Scarface

Happy Gilmore

Hard Boiled - given the probable state of the best elements of this and "The Killer" - a full digital restoration of a new hi-def 16*9 master would solve the criterion editions picture probs...

Jack Ryan Trilogy

Almost forgot,

give me a 16x9 version of Lynch's Dune...both the theatrical cut and *his* (not yet produced) director's cut.

Oh, just about anything from the former Winstar Video. They were the only source for some great forgin films, and typically butchered them. I really don't know why they went out of their way to do pan and scan, or non-OAR dvd, or if they were in OAR, why not anamorphic. Most of these films were likely to be purchased by us, the film fanatic, not by J6P.

I hope that the new owners will revisit the library, get good prints, and restore if nessisary. Maybe aim at a more criterion type release.

HUH, looks like someone else had the same idea. Yeah, lets have Criterion take over the library!

The Vacation movies in OAR

Sharky's Machine in OAR

All of the P&S crap that Warner put out, in OAR

Amadeus non-flipper

Das Boot non-flipper

Goodfellas non-flipper

Color Purple non-flipper

Geez, Warner can't do much right, can it? (Yes, I know Das Boot isn't Warner)

I'll second Bob Graham's plea for reissues of The Wild Bunch and Cross of Iron. I'd also like to see Paths of Glory reissued with supplements including a commentary by Kirk Douglas (while he's still with us).

-"Xanadu: Collector's Edition" (OAR)

-"Scarface" (OAR with Moroder soundtrack intact)

-"Night Shift" with a theatrical trailer and Ron Howard commentary (Current transfer is OAR, I think)

-"Arthur", The "Vacation" movies and the "Grumpy Old Men" movies (OAR, with new extras)

-"Moonstruck" (OAR, with commentary and trailer from the current disc intact)

-"The Color Of Money"-Special Edition (OAR)

-Is it true that "Poltergeist" is getting an SE?

Sincerely,

John "OAR is the mark of quality!" Kilduff

As long as wishful thinking is permitted, I'd like new anamorphic transfers of the following:
Amarcord
Andrei Rublev (I know about the Ruscico version, but I prefer the cut Criterion has released)
Pretty Woman
Bruce Lee Collection
I understand there's a good chance to see Speed and True Lies re-released as well as Pulp Fiction but I'll mention them just the same. While I'm at it: A Fistful of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More are definitely on my list, too. Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves would be great, too.
Now off to less meaningful movies (but guilty pleasers nonetheless):
Time Cop, Sudden Death and a full cut of Hard Target. What the heck, I'll even take Commando.
There's more but most of that has already been mentioned a few times in this thread, so I'll stop here.

I hate saying this, as the title already has four versions on the street. But I still get a chill with the Exorcist!

1. DTS 6.1 soundtrack from The Version You Never... .

2. Seamless Branching; maybe of every scene [we could make-up our own versions!].

3. Restored transfer [ala Snow White, Romper Stomper, or Fantasia].

4. Two discs, one movie & one extras.

5. Keepsake.

Just one title from Warner would make me happy:
Chariots of Fire: Special Edition
OAR, Remastered/Restored, 16x9, DD 5.1, docs, ect.
Come on Warner, get with it! This movie was nominated for 7 Oscars and won four of them including Best Picture.
Peace,
DM
PS - also another vote for Amadeus.

I would love to see a 2 disk special edition of Deep Impact so I can learn how they made the movie. Plus I would like to see some documentaries on there with real-life material on near Earth misses, comet/meteor impact dynamics, the extinction of the dinosaurs, etc etc etc.

The following are all titles I haven't bought yet, and am holding out for better versions:

Pulp Fiction

GoodFellas

Scarface

Babe

I know the first thre are supposedly on the way, so hooray for that! (Let's just hope "Scarface" has it's original soundtrack...)

It would be nice to see all those non-anamorphic Criterions redone anamorphic, but I'm not holding my breath.
