Well here goes...my list for the DVD's I'd like to see re-issued in 2002 and the reasons why, I'm sure I've forgotten a few - but hey that's why this is an open forum :)
Psycho - new anamorphic transfer
Vertigo - new anamorphic transfer (it's available in R2 anamorphic)
Deer Hunter - new anamorphic transfer and 5.1 remix from
70mm stems plus supplements worthy of an oscar winner
The Sting - new anamorphic widescreen transfer plus supplements worthy of an oscar winner
The Thing - new anamorphic transfer
Pink Panther, PP Strikes Back & Return of PP - new anamorphic transfers and new stereo soundtracks with Henry Mancini's original stereo score
Stargate SE - new anamorphic transfer (it's available in R2 anamorphic)
Fistfull of Dollars & For a Few Dollars More - new anamorphic digitally restored transfers, preferably with both original mono mix and new stereo remix with Morricone's original stereo music track.
That's a start...
Regards to all

STARGATE re-release with DTS5.1 tracks and extended scenes!

It is a new year,so there should be some new move from the studios. MGM,WARNER,and PARAMOUNT are the three that still not makiing full entrance into DTS yet...

My Wish List:

THE WILD BUNCH-new anamorphic transfer, commentary by Peckinpah colleagues and collaborators.

CROSS OF IRON-uncut anamorphic with supplements.

DAS BOOT-6 hour plus, German TV mini-series version.

WHITE CHRISTMAS-with improved color closer to the original Techincolor release.

CHRISTMAS STORY-anamorphic with commentary by Bob Clarke.

Amadeus and Color Purple...new RSDL high-bit transfers (ala superbit quality) with DTS audio and DD at the 448 kbps rate. Warner...oh plese oh please!
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang 16x9 WS SE version.
Secret of NIHM remastered with 16x9 WS transfer.
While I'm at it, I wish that Disney would revisit their early non-16x9 titles like Marry Poppins, Lady and the Tramp, and Phenonemon with new 16x9 transfers.

After weeding out the reissues that are supposed to be coming in 2002 (like Goodfellas and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, for instance) my top 10 are:

Frantic

The Idolmaker

Driving Miss Daisy

Fearless

(the current discs are not in their OAR)

Oliver

(the current disc is a flipper)

Dangerous Liasons

Man who Fell to Earth

Peggy Sue Got Married

Pocohantas

(the transfers could be better)

A Woman Under the Influence

(the transfer could be much better AND it's a flipper. yikes!)

The Jack Ryan Trilogy in 16:9 and include dts.

Enemy of the State in 16:9 and include dts.

Armegeddon in 16:9 and include dts.

Lord of the Rings Infinifilm to include dts.

Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Star Wars dvds. (I know this won't happen.)

The Matrix in dts, I think this would be one of the best mixes utilizing all of the detail in surround mix. I know that this may never happen, but one can wish.

I want to see more dvds that contain trailers for all of the trailers to be in 5.1. And if the dvd has dts, have a dts trailer. The only to have one is Saving Private Ryan.

I would like Columbia to release more and more titles that feature dts besides Superbit titles. Although I prefer uperbit titles, the one extra feature that I would want on a Superbit title would be the inclusion of a trailer THAT'S IT!! How about some more Superbit titles?

How about WB, Paramount, and MGM releasing more DTS titles? How about newer dts titles take full advantage of 96/24 dts video titles?

There are some more, but I won't list them all.

Reissues of The Cocoanuts, Animal Crackers, Monkey Business, Horse Feathers, and Duck Soup.
All 5 would have brand new digital transfers, restored picture and sound, trailers, commentaries, etc (lots of extras if possible)
A box set containing those 5 Universal-owned titles, plus 3 of the WB-owned titles newly remastered. (A Night at the Opera, A Day At The Races, and A Night in Casablanca. Note: Many of the MGM titles are OK, but the box set would be better if containing the "best" of the 13 movies)
Special Edition of Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie. New 16x9 1.66:1 transfer (Released theatrically at 1.85:1, but the movie mocked within the movie is supposed to be 1.66:1, so perhaps the movie segments can be 1.66:1 and the host segments be at 1.85:1) There's tons of potential extras such as trailers, promo kits, bloopers, and even a few deleted scenes and an alternate ending! Also, throw in the original, uncut version of This Island Earth to allow the viewers to try heckling it. Everything could fit on one disc due to MST: TM being only 76 minutes long and TIE being only 2 hours. Also include the original DTS track.
16x9 editions of Psycho and Vertigo (Perhaps with commentaries and also a better extras arrangement for Vertigo)
Uncensored editions of Fantasia, Melody Time, Saludas Amigos, Make Mine Music. The fact that these 4 are censored has prevented me from purchasing them. (Yes, I bought Fantasia thinking it was uncut, thanks a lot of the false claims on the box. )
Vista Series of Who Framed Roger Rabbit. I'd personally like to have a commentary with Robert Zemeckis, Richard Williams, and Bob Hoskins. Also, a 16x9 transfer that fixes some of the SFX flaws (a few shots have too much transparency on layers. In one scene, you can see through Valiant and see the car behind him.)
I'd like to see more DTS, but only if it enhances the presentation. DTS is more effective when the DTS track is remixed from separate stems instead of tracks. DTS does enhance orchestral sound very nicely, (The DTS tracks for the two Fantasia DVD's are excellent.) so Amadeus would be a great title to remix...even though the DD 5.1 track is reference quality.

The only one I can think of right now is a special edition of GoodFellas. I'd love to have a commentary track by Martin Scorsese.
Come to think of it, I sure wish that Criterion would get a hold of this one.

With all these unnecessary "Ultimate Editions" put out by Universal, why can't they give us a proper version of Babe?
That's what I'd like to see: Babe (at the very least) presented in anamorphic widescreen.

I'd like to see Amadeus and Das Boot rereleased as RSDL. If Das Boot were released as the 6-hour mini-series, that would be cool, too.

I'd like to see the following movies get anamorphic treatment: Jean de Florette, Manon of the Spring, Babette's Feast, Short Circuit, Vertigo, Andrei Rublev, Charade, Planet of the Apes, The Abyss, The Longest Day.

I'm sure I could think of more, but I'm in a hurry!

I'd like to see Crimson Tide, which is in desperate need of a new video transfer.
I'd also like to see the long discussed (by the studio) and rumored BackDraft Collector's Edition from Universal.

Dan

Raging Bull would make a wonderful SE.

As would the previously mentioned Goodfellas and Amadeus.

I would have to say GoodFellas and Casino Special Editions would be very nice. Added bonus to those DTS tracks.

I'd love to have reissues of Batman and The Game as well. I'm hoping for a Criterion edition of the latter so that I can replace my Criterion LD.
