And even without considering some of the nice $40-$50 discs, just estimating at $20 a pop....

Hmm, that's a car almost. Of course I've been buying them for 5 years so it's not that bad really.

409 DVDs= $11215.94

Damn thats a lot of money! But like Seth said, thats collecting DVDs for almost 5 years and never paying anywhere close to MSRP. Any fellow old timers remember the 3 DVDs for a buck deal that 800.com ran? Between that and Reel.com I never paid more than 10 bucks for a movie. 50% or more off for preorders plus all the coupons. I still have people that don't believe me when I tell them how much I paid for Armageddon:Criterion Collection. Fifty dollar DVD for 5 bucks. Man I miss those days!

This is what spreadsheets are for:

203 DVDs - MSRP $6106.52 exactly on the nose.

Of course, I paid a hell of a lot less than that. I am low paid grunt.

Holy Jebus,

I only have 45 DVDs, plus 5 box sets, and I thought that was a bit pricey.

My 31 page report from DVD Profiler shows a grand total of $60416.24 (MSRP) with a 34% discount average. I can tell you that there are a few hundred titles that don't have MSRP listed, as I'm always adding them when I find them, and about a 1/3 of my titles don't have actual paid prices entered (pre-98 titles). Hope my wife doesn't find this thread!
ps. This doesn't include about $6k I've paid for LDs, no idea what those MSRPs are now.
pss. I'd love to see RAFs report!

Just out of curiosity for those of you using DVD Profiler. Do you use the current MSRP or do you keep the MSRP equal to what it was at the time of the purchase?

My totals are:

Titles: 170
MSRP: 5198.41 (30.58)
Paid: 2895.17 (17.03)

Gifts and gift ceretificates really helped keep the total paid down. And my total paid includes any shipping fees or sales tax. MSRP doesn't.

A lot of mine are of Asian origin and I don't think they have an MSRP (well Japan does), so I just find the cheapest U.S. importer and use their sale price as MSRP.

Suffice it to say... Mark must love his movies!!!

Wow, how are you guys tracking this?
I couldn't even venture a guess as to what my collection is worth based on MSRP.
If you really want to know, grab a calculator and hit the "MY DVDs" link in my sig. :D

DVD Profiler has a reports system that basically lets you define custom actions to perform on your DVD data. There's a report on the DVD Profiler website that you can download that will calculate the total MSRP cost of all your DVDs.
