Ron, IMO the Director's Cut is definitely superior to the theatrical. It makes an already long film longer, but it's time well spent.

I will watch that version today.


This gets even whackier with VUDU...

All this time I thought HDX was 4k.

Actually, an HD movie on Vudu is 720p. An HDX is Blu-ray 1080p quality.

So, some of these DVD films that I am paying to have upgraded to HD might not be at 1080p.

At least that is how I am seeing this thus far

That's how it used to be, but I don't think they even offer the HD (720p) tier anymore. They certainly never did on D2D, so your conversions are fine. Your only options there are SD and HDX.

SD = 480p
HDX = 1080p
UHD = 4K

Remember until 2012 iTunes used to offer 720p as their highest resolution as well. When the industry switched to 1080p, and companies like Vudu had been referring to 720p as "HD," they needed to call 1080p something different, hence "HDX."

Yeah and that system already screwed me in 2017, because I got the SD versions on both Vudu and iTunes.

The series is one of the best I’ve ever seen. My highest recommendation. You’ll not get the most out of Downton Abbey The Movie if you haven’t seen the tremendous series.

The characters are all SO much richer in the film if you know their backstories, and it takes six seasons of the series to fully glean that information.
