i looked on the back of a tivo unit and saw what appeared to be a mini-plug sized jack for this. i always thought it was built into the device?

so i'm guessing it's some sort of external device which "floods" the room with an ir signal?

does anyone have any pics of this?

thx,

ted

Not quite. It's a small device that attaches to your cable box and beams a signal that mimics the cable box's remote. You have to position it carefully so that its output is focused on the little "receiver" window on the cable box. Then you have to tell the TiVo unit what brand of cable box you have so that it can select the correct frequencies to control it.

The IR blaster comes with the TiVo unit.
