What brand would you recommend (1 Viewer)

I have a denon which is from 2001 and I want to get a new receiver. Are any of the other brands better than denon? I want to spend 500 or less.

These days, is there a bad AVR from the major brands? Denon, Marantz, Onkyo, Pioneer, Yamaha all make good products, no?

Denon, Marantz, Yamaha and some other but depends on the price point of receiver your looking for. I recommend Marantz and Denon then Yamaha with maybe Onkyo after that and then Sony if your only using HDMI and like the receiver being your Ethernet switch as Sony is a little limited on inputs. Pioneer doesn't make higher end receivers unless you get into Pioneer Elite models then I have questions about longevity. I a say maybe Onkyo because I wonder if the HDMI issues still haunt them? I personally now own a Marantz SR-8012 and I love this receiver! And I actually moved from a Pioneer Elite SC-05 to the Marantz SR-8012.
