West Wing DVD R2 only? (1 Viewer)

While checking out the release dates of Buffy Season 4 and Angel Season 2 on some R2 retailer sites, I noticed that The West Wing is planned for a March 25 release date. This is a three disc set containing the first half of the first season. Does anybody have any idea if this is in widescreen (I believe it wasn't widescreen for a while) and if a R1 release is planned, or even likely, with syndication not being a factor yet?

I expect when the show finishes season 5 off then we'll start hearing something about an R1 release since they'll have enough for a syndication deal.
