A buddy of mine is visiting this week from NH, he goes back home tomorrow. His wife says they dont have power. Id hate to go home, if i were him.
We had a similar storm in OK last year. As a matter of fact is was exactly a year ago. I never saw so many broken and twisted trees. Even the pine trees couldnt take it. They brought in power, and tree guys from 10 or 15 states. Some people were without power for 3 weeks. Thank god it doesnt get as cold here, as you guys have it in the north and east. It gets cold, but not as long.
Its gonna be 71 today, and tomorrow, its only gonna be 25. Damn.

Anyway, good luck Mike, and thanks for the Round-up!

Good luck to you and your family, Mike!

I'll be picking up Death Proof and Planet Terror on Blu-ray and Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Volume Six. And eventually, I'll pick up Bottle Rocket.

Thanks for the prices, guys.

So should I finally break down and buy Grindhouse separately or continue to hold a faint (really, really faint) hope that they'll come out with a BD theatrical edition eventually?

Grindhouse is available on DVD in Japan (I believe) and it's been on Starz in the U.S. so I think it'll hit DVD and Blu-ray at some point in the relatively near future. At the very least, a Grindhouse release isn't the pipe dream that Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair is.

Personally, I'll buy Grindhouse whenever it come out for the trailers but I doubt I'll ever watch the short version of Death Proof ever again.

Thanks, again, everyone! I will be sure to pass along all the well wishes to my dad! :emoji_thumbsup: Maybe I'll just print up the entire thread and send it over to the hospital! :D

Ric: Great shots! It's amazing to wander back and forth between how beautiful the ice storm is...but at the same time the devastation is terrific! Since I forgot to bring my camera today on the drive out to Brunswick, I may appropriate yours to show some far away acquaintances what this storm looked like (on its pretty side).

Looks like we lucked out here, just a few dozen miles north of Mike and Ric. We got about 10" of snow in town but the ice was very minimal. With the 250,000 power outages in the area (which astounded me when I heard that), there were only six in my county, according to the reports I saw. Getting the snow instead of ice certainly spared us up here. Good to see you and your family are OK from the storm. Best wishes to your dad, Mike.
Which is why many people (myself included) refer to images/videos of stuff like the ice storm, tornadoes, etc. as weather porn - you know you probably shouldn't watch it but you can't turn away. It's amazing to watch videos of nasty storms - Storm Chasers just ended its second season on Discovery Channel. That show was incredible to watch in HD. Some awesome footage.

Back on topic: I have Generation Kill and Bottle Rocket (BD) on order. I'll eventually pick up the BDs of Death Race, House Bunny, Burn After Reading and a few of those Paramount catalog titles.

Yikes! Sorry to hear of your trials this week, Mike. I didn't realize NY was hit that bad, I thought it was mostly in NH.

Thanks from Here as well Mike and Hope for a safe and Healthy Holiday for your dad.

Not much for me this week I'm Buying Mamma Mia for the Mrs. not sure why she saw it with her friends about 4 times already. I'll give it a look. The rest look to be rentals. As far as Sunday releases that does happen before christmas so it might very well be. I want Petticoat Junction but I have the original release from last year ,that will hold me until I can get it on sale at some point...

Mike; glad all is well with you and yours, I remember the one we had when we lived in upstate NY, we were out of power for 7 days and the one thing we had with us was that the temps did go below 45 for those days we were out of power. Great to see the roundup under stressful circumstances, and with the new BD player, definetly Mummy trilogy in Bluray for me.

It was put out by the same company that put out those 1st Season Beverly Hillbillies releases, they were direct from the estate of Paul Henning and were from 16mm masters, so hopefully the Paramount release looks better. their Beverly Hillbillies set did, and it featured the original "Commercial" conclusions, althought I don't think they did the same for PJ.

Interesting.

I have that season 1 of The Beverly Hillbiliies (I can't think of the name of the company, either) and didn't know how Paramount could really improve upon it. I thought it was pretty well done.

I might be tempted to pick up a season of PJ when Meredith MacRae hits the show. I had a schoolboy crush on her! Oh...those girls of Hooterville! :D

Mike,

I'm about 90 miles south of you, and all we got was rain. In fact, it hit 60 here today! I hope it has warmed up for you.

Oh I've been to Fishkill, Richard! I also lived & worked for six years in Monticello & Liberty in nearby Sullivan County.

Again, a big thanks to everyone for the well wishes. Today brought the good news of warm temperatures and the end of the ice. However, winds and melting ice have actually caused outages to increase in the area. While once down to 77,000 without power, the number has risen back up to 85,840.

My mom & dad continue to be without power--now heading into the fifth day! The good news for them is that my dad talked the doctors into letting him out of the hospital and has returned home to us to continue his recuperation from the pneumonia! :emoji_thumbsup:

That's very good news Mike! Hopefully they can get their power back soon. Isn't nearly everyone's supposed to be back by late tomorrow night (Just in time for the next storm)?

FYI

Blockbuster has been given the go ahead to put
Traitor on the shelves.

I'm sure others have done the same.

So true!

And, their power's back on as of about an hour or so ago! :emoji_thumbsup:

Now it's just a question of seeing how long it takes to bring the house back up to a decent (liveable) temperature!

Good luck to you guys getting iced in (and to Mike's dad).

Shouldn't that photo caption say "Brendan Fraser's Stuntman & Jet Li?" ;)
