Please forgive my ignorance about VCRs...I have not used mine in years. I have a friend from the UK moving to the states and wants to know if such a device exists. Thanks in advance!

It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure that Samsung makes one and you should be able to find some info over at www.jandr.com

Yes Samsung makes a VCR that plays both NTSC and PAL tapes. I'm not sure if they're the only ones making it but that's the only one I've seen. Very pricy though.

many companies do, I had a sony when I lived in the UK (sold it when I came back to the states for more than I bought it for!)... the best place to find them are army bases (soldiers move overseas a lot)

if you know someone who is or was in the armed services ...get them to buy you one

The Samsung SV5000W worldwide VCR can be had for about $400. Do a search on pricegrabber.com.
