Batgirl didn’t fit in with new management’s plan to keep original streaming movies budgeted at $35 million or less. It also wasn’t testing well and executives who saw it didn’t like it.

The Flash does fit in with new management’s plan to pursue big theatrical experiences. It also has tested phenomenally well and the studio feels strongly that they have a blockbuster hit on their hands.

Certain cameos have been cut...

A friend of mine just caught a test-screening of this movie. Absolutely freaking loved it. He said that Keaton is in this too much to be cut out. He's basically the co-lead. Said he probably has more screen-time in this than he did in both Tim Burton Batman-movies.

Gadot is in both Shazam 2 and The Flash. She can probably be cut from the former. My friend says he doesn't see how she can be cut from the latter. Not without yet another round of reshoots, which they're not doing yet, apparently.

And it'll have to be released. Keaton is already on the verge of suing over Batgirl. If they vault The Flash too, he'll pull the trigger, and he'll have the full backing of all of the guilds (who are still beyond furious over the Batgirl and Scoob 2-thing).

And it'll have to be released.

I don’t think it’s release has ever seriously been in doubt. It’s a $200+ million production targeting a $1+ billion payday. If they weren’t willing to junk it during that limited tax write off period when the lead was being accused of felony robbery and pedophiliac grooming, they’re not gonna junk it now that the write off period has ended and the lead has stopped generating headlines.

Variety is reporting that execs at DC are open to Miller staying on as the Flash.
"As for what else Gunn and Safran have planned for DC’s future, sources describe it as a broad but not blanket reset. At this point, nothing is ruled out. Given that Miller has stayed out of trouble since beginning mental health treatment in the summer, some executives are amenable to continuing with the actor as the world-saving speedster after “The Flash” bows on June 16. “Aquaman,” “Shazam!,” “Blue Beetle” and Gunn’s “Peacemaker” series for HBO Max all could have a place at the table. Gunn and Safran, who were recommended by De Luca, have the full backing of the WBD top ranks."

Gunn reportedly debunked this:

If the film is a hit, I almost think they'd have to as long as he stays out of the headlines and the public seems indifferent to his history. Seems like it would be risky to change the face of a major hit franchise right out of the gate.

If the film is a disappointment, they can blame it on Miller's troubles and move on if they want to make a sequel.

Please just fire them already.
I think it's guaranteed that Miller is done but Warners, etc. just have to wait to officially do that until after the movie comes out. There's enough negative publicity for the movie already and who knows what Miller might start saying about the movie if they get fired right now.

It's common sense to just wait until the movie is over and done before they officially jettison this dude into the pages of history, never to be spoken of again. He's just too loose of a cannon to invest in any future projects, let alone be any kind of foundation for a franchise.

Whatever your line of work, you need to protect your job particularly if it's a big one. Unfortunately, Miller has been hit with the stupid stick and thrown it all away.
