    This was released today, and, having loved the film at the cinema, I was disappointed to find a non-anamorphic transfer, with the subtitles resting both above and below the frame border.

    That said, they have made a good job of the transfer, and it has some nice extras. A highly recommended ghost story, but I hear that the director is working on a better release for the R1 market. Here's hoping.

    Well, Del Torro's star is certainly rising with the big opening this past weekend for Blade 2 (excellent, by the way) so a good R1 release is certainly a possibility. However, I wouldn't hold my breath too much, given the lack of any good treatment given to his movies on R1 DVD so far. I'd especially love a good director's cut special edition of Mimic, but that's probably not ever going to happen as Del Torro has already gone on the record about how the movie was "taken away from him by the studio".

    According to this thread in the Movies area, Columbia are releasing the R1 version in June. I'm holding off buying the R2 version until I see more info on the R1 version.
