40 complete songs sounds about right to me.

I'm sure that the DVD is better, but I'm perfectly happy with the LD. No need to replace. The PCM stereo on the LD is fantastic, how much can 5.1 add to a documentary about stereo music? The LD was a Dolby Pro Logic mix. The DVD is a brand new STEREO mix (no pro logic--pure stereo), with totally remixed music & upgraded sources all around. It sounds incredible. Also, 5.1 adds TONS to the release. Certain tracks, like Something, the Abbey Road collage, If I Fell, & A Day In The Life will bring tears to your eyes in DTS, they are so beautiful. The LD is a joke compared to this release & I haven't even gotten to the bonus disc!
It's identical to the laser discs except for the bonus disc and the superior sound. It's even better than that. Many of the picture elements were changed to better sources. Just look at Some Other Guy, for instance.
If one is a Beatles fan and has a home theater then being without this set is inconceivable. It's a must-buy.I'll second that!
