Thanks! This actually may be just what I'm looking for. Looks like it will give me the resolution I need at a lower price while mostly just giving up brightness. I had read about the 7800 and 8700 but somehow got the idea that the 7800 lists for more than the Infocus 5700.

If anyone is interested, I ordered a 7800 today after some discussion with folks over on avsforum. Got it from projectorpeople.com for $2615 shipped.

I have the Panasonic AE500 in a light controlled HT using a Carada 92" Classic White screen and I am VERY pleased. I paid less than 2M with a spare bulb. The unit has a 720P resolution and HDTV looks 3-D. Spend the money left over on a good subwoofer.

Before I purchased my 5700 I looked at the 4800 (not 4805) and felt a noticeable difference was in detail in darker scenes. In some cases I saw no detail at all while the 5700 was much more than adequate in this respect.

Your screen purchase is also important. The 5700 is very bright and it goes well with a gray screen (I got a Da-Lite HCCV-110" diagonal).

How much light control is another issue. The 5700 is bright, as I mentioned above, and it performs reasonably well in ambient light (though the darker the room the better).

My dealer was actually willing to let me take home the 4800 and try it out in the room I was going to use but I had already decided on the 5700. I've had the 5700 for about 4 months and I have not regretted it since.
