For a while I was getting the "Steal Cable with a filter" spam 20 times a day.So I started ordering 100s of them.....and they stopped.
Now it's Viagra ....so I (or should I say Mr Dick Head located in Penisville) ordered 1000s of the pills.
I think it's a fair exchange they clog up my computer....I clog up there server with orders to Penisville MA.
More Spams .....more orders...... I think Mr P. Nis needs some now

This sounds like my ex girlfriends dad who used to take the hundreds of credit card applications he got in the mail, tear them up, then send them back to the credit card company because they always come with a self addressed envelope that doesn't require a stamp. ;)

Hmm, this is an interesting concept.

You know the only spam I've gotten recently is that Nigerian money scandal thing, I've still got the email, I was just trying to decide how I should reply.

Cool, Marty, didn't know you could add that to Outlook. I installed the "stable" version just now and I'll have to see how effective it is...

Thanks for the link!

I've been using POPFile on all my home PC's for months now and its fantastic. It took a week or so of training but after that I'm at about 98% accuracy. One hint that I'll pass along to anyone that installs this application is that by default it implies that you need to have two buckets..one for spam and one for regular mail. That's not really needed as the only thing you need to trap is the spam so don't edit any non-spam email headers and they'll just pass though your filters fine. The reason this becomes necessary is that if you follow their directions all your regular email will have its headers modified with a [] in front which looks tacky and it remains there when you do a reply to someone etc.

Thanks for all the info on the SPAM blockers
Don't know how many I have downloaded and they all seem to work for a while then they find a way around them.
That's when it hit me, "why should I spend my time , $, and memory to stop things I don't want in the 1st place?"
At least I waste their time energy & $ to sort out orders etc. I think it's a fair exchange...I think if they get a ton of them it might make them think twice about the value of SPAM

BTW only 1 so far had a page to remove my name off their list, the ones without an opt out gets Mr Heads order

do not EVER reply to SPAM by clicking on the Opt out link...that only validates your email address and you'll then be swamped with other spam.

I also use POPFile, and I don't know how I lived without it.

Andrew,
Subject modification can be disabled on a per bucket basis by going to the POPFile Control Center (http://127.0.0.1:8080), clicking on the "Buckets" tab and then clicking the "Turn Off" button in the "Subject Modification" column of any bucket you wish to change.

I have several buckets, one for spam, one for "normal", one for personal, and some for mailing lists. I've set it up so the only bucket which does subject modification is the spam bucket.

POPFile works surprisingly well. It makes an error on maybe 2 or 3 emails a week now, which I find quite acceptable, given the huge quantities of email I get, and almost never erroneously brands real email to be spam. That kind of learning software is definitely the way to go.

Actually I always thought it'd be pretty cool to place an order for the spam product and send it back to their billing address...:D
