Here is the story and I know some people will hate me for this but I thought I might help the people that are concerned about the DVI crap and don't know what to do.
I recently purchased the KP-51HW40 and I love it. It is excellent.
But after reading a lot of stories about DVI horror I couldn't resist and returned it today.

The new Sony's WS series in 51' and 57' were supposed to be released in October 2nd 2002 which was too far away and didn't have the patience to wait.

I know a manager at the Sony Store in Eaton Centre in Toronto and went and talked to him about the new models.
Just as a curiosity I made him look into his computer for the 51 WS.
Oh well, it shows up as active and they are accepting orders.
The price is the same as the current HW's = $3,499.99CDN.
(The 57WV is ridiculously priced at $6,499.99CDN)
He gives me 15% off.
Available date of WS is beginning or mid August in Toronto.
I needed to confirm this so I went to Eatons (now Sears) where I also know a sales guy.
I asked him to look in his books to see if they will carry the WS series.
And they do but no date in the book.
He tried to enter a sale to check the delivery date but not available.
I asked him to call head-office department and check the date.
Well, the same date - August 10, 2002.
He also asked head-office to enter the WS into their system to be able to order it since THIS WEEKEND - they have NO TAX (15% OFF).

So I decided to wait for 1 month. It won't kill me... it's summer time.

WS Series will have NEW
- HD Microfocus CRT and Lenses
- DVI Input
- New Wide Band Video Amplifier

Hope this helps the UNDECIDED

I've pretty much decided on the new 51 but the possibility of getting it before October has made my day. Thanks!

I've been happy all day !!!

Another thing I forgot to mention is that as per "TWICE - DTV Guide" all the new Sony models will accept 720p and upconvert to 1080i instead of downconvert to 480p as in most of the current models.
I hope it's a good thing...

I'll keep posting as I know more details.
