I noticed recently that Sony dropped the KV34HS510 and came out with the KV34HS420 wide-screen 34" CRT. I bought the KV34HS510. I was listed for $1999.99, I got it for 1799.99 plus a $200.00 gift card from Best Buy. (I also used my reward zone card) So in effect I got it for $1599.99. Now they have this newer KV34HS420 34" wide-screen for $1599.99. The only difference I noticed was that the newer one has HDMI were as mine has only DVI.
I asked the guys at Best Buy about this newer CRT, why it is so much cheaper and why is it lighter in weight. Mine is 201 lbs and the new one is 193 lbs. I trust the guys at Best Buy for one they are not commissioned and two they bought the same CRT I did. What they told me was that the newer is not as well made and the Tube itself is not of the same caliber as my model. Anyone have any thoughts or info on this?

Bill,
Thanks for the info. YES...they do have alot of information on Sony direct view sets.

I didn't realize that the 420 didn't have PIP either. That is a function I don't use all that much. I would only use that if there are two "games" on at the same time.
I have used that also to watch HDTV HBO and DTV HBO at the same time to see the difference. However they are not in sync. But still cool all the same...

thanks again...
