My father was particularly sarcastic. He was a great lover of his generation's music which was mostly big band from the 1940s and hated everything else. I remember putting a 45 on the Stereo in 1966 or 1967, and after it played for a minute he said,
"Is this a long playing record?"

Maybe a little depressing, sorry.

Not from a parent, but my aunt. Her son was adopted, he couldn't father children so he and his wife adopted a girl. My parents adopted me from a Catholic orphanage.

Yet one day my aunt says to me "You know, for being adopted, you really haven't turned out that bad".

Talk about a slap in the face, I was speechless. :mellow: That's a comment you never forget.

I was in university and quite depressed and decided to have a heart to heart discussion with my father. I didn't know whether to continue toward a career or get a job. After a slight pause he said, "why don't you change the spark plugs in the car?"
