Can someone recommend a cheap receiver (ever an older one) that has 5.1 pre-outs + (one component input, digital input)?

The Pioneer VSX-816 and 817 have them, to get any cheaper I'm sure you'll need to buy used.

Thanks! Found a used one, but not sure where the price will end up.

I made a mistake re: need - actually, don't need the component inputs. Really, just need 2 digital inputs + 5.1 pre-outs.

Basically, this will act as a DAC.

Wyz_sub10,

How much are you looking to spend?
I just switched to separates and I am about to list my Denon 3805 in the hardware for sale area for $ 525.00 plus shipping. However, I am open to offers. I bought it new at Tweeter in 2005 and I have the calibration mic also.
It's in perfect condition and has been in a no kids, no pets, no smoking house.

I'd love to do that, but the speakers are really cheap, and I'm using them in the upstairs tv room, rather than in the theatre downstairs. So it'd be hard for me to justify that kind of money, unfortunately.

I'm really looking to cap at $250.

Crap, I misled you, the receivers I listed have 5.1ch INPUTS not pre-outs. Here's some that actually have pre-outs:

I believe the Harman Kardon is going to be your best bet. In looking at the older H/K models it appears the series beginning with 2 has the pre-outs so perhaps if the models older than 240 (like 235 or 230?) are available somewhere you might be able to get those even cheaper.

No worries.

I ended up getting a used HK 45. It has the pre-outs + 2 digital inputs, which is all I need/.

Yeah, the 45 has shaky reliability, but the price was right and the original owner admitted he had had a problem, but got it serviced.

Guess I'll have to keep my fingers crossed.
