understood. i figured i would have to see the movie to understand, because at first, it just seems that scott could just say it is whatever time he wanted. i've been meaning to see the movie anyway. then i'll edit my post

I just finished watching Tape. It appears to be real time.

I think Tape may, in fact, be one excruciating shot, and that that was part of the reason Linklater shot it on digital video.

Certainly Tape has the feel of real time and is meant to be in real time. Unlike Rope, with its several long takes and Russian Ark, which has only one take, Tape is edited—so it is likely not one shot.
