Well, I ended up with 10. Better than the Noir challenge, but fewer than I'd hoped or intended. I just don't feel like watching movies much these days.

I lost track of how many/which Colt .45 episodes I watched but those are my final entry for the challenge this year. I had the biggest review load I’ve had in a long time and wasn’t able to get to everything I wanted, but having those half hour episodes available on most nights for the past two weeks was an enjoyable way to finish the challenge.

Our last western in March:

12. Westward the Women (1951)

Neither my wife nor I remember seeing this William Wellman directed western before, but we both recently read Westering Women by Sandra Dallas which tells a similar story. Robert Taylor stars as a wagon master leading a large group of women, including Denise Darcel, from Chicago to California to marry and help settle the region. We both liked this one a lot. It subverts, in some ways, the conventional western story while still remaining firmly in the genre. The women emerge as strong characters who drive both the wagon train and the story forward. We get glimpses of what led to the women joining the train, but I would have enjoyed a bit more on their backgrounds.

March was a busy month here, and I didn't get to watch as many westerns as I would have liked. I really enjoyed seeing all the comments, and I have to go back through the discussion to make some notes on films I want to watch or rewatch.

It’s my fault it’s wrong for not updating the main page - I watched about 20 episodes of Colt .45 but as I didn’t have time to write about them individually, just the official review, so it’s ok with me if I don’t get full points for that.

Looking forward to next year’s!

You didn’t give me a number of episodes until now. I updated your total number to 23 for the Challenge tally.
