Progressive scan = no vertical lines? (1 Viewer)

I have a Toshiba 40H80 and it has the dreaded vertical lines. Recently they have been getting on my nerves wtih some movies. I remember reading that a progressive scan DVD player will solve the problem for DVDs. I just wanted to make sure this is true because I wasn't going to upgrade my DVD player first but I will if it solves the line porblem for movies.

Where did you hear that? I never have heard that before and doubt it because the lines occur on all inputs in the exact same location.

I remember reading it on another forum as well as being told by the regional manager at Toshiba Canada. I asked them if they could fix it when my tv was in for repairs and he said that it was a design flaw in the line doubler and that getting a progressive scan player bypasses the line doubler getting rid of the lines.

Actually progressive scan usually means no dark horizontal lines.
