I've seen the big DLPs at the store, but they're never operating when I'm there. Maybe I need to fit in a trip to BestBiy this week.

You need to find a real HT store that has the Mits. sets set up. Best Buy's viewing environment is a joke. The only downside to the DLP TV's is the periodic bulb changes(unless you buy the Mits. laser TV).

How's fan noise on these projectors? My seating will be underneath the projector.
Is there a resource to understand the various details of screen size, gain, projector distance, throw ratio, ceiling mount height, etc? I'd like to understand better how to chose a projector and screen.

Don't be scared off because they are tied to retailers. The have been absolutely objective over the years in my experience.

Another question:

Sound channel in basement finished ceiling space for $655? Drops ceiling about 2", and gives some acoustic separation between basement and first floor. I've never experienced it, but I've heard about it. It seems like a good idea between the two main TV / movie / video game rooms.
