I heard the Afterburner can sometimes wash out the colors on games, and at some parts of Castlevania this would be deadly.

It happens a little, but not as bad as some people make it out to be. Castlevania is probably where it's most noticeable, but that's also because it's a VERY dark game, and the blacks are really where you notice the effect. Other games with dark screens aren't as bad though-I think that Castlevania is just an odd example.

Let's put it this way-it's no worse than the washout I saw on my PDA with a screen protector. If anything-you get used to it after a couple of days and don't even notice.
