Pioneer VSX AV Reciever (1 Viewer)

I am a bit overwhelmed by the choice of audio formats for the above AV receiver, can some one shed some light on this for me. I will have a 7.1 set up I will be playing CDs, Standard DVDs and Blue Ray/3D discs. Here is the choice :- Dolby Digital (+) Dolby Digital EX (+) Dolby Digital Plus Dolby Pro Logic II (+) Dolby Pro Logic IIx (+) Dolby Pro Logic IIz (+) Dolby True HD DTS (+) DTS-ES DTS Neo: 6 (+) DTS 96/24 (+) DTS-Express DTS-HD High Resolution Audio DTS-HD Master Audio Perhaps personal choice plays a part here but where do I go from here

I look on the back of the disc and find the audio format. If it has DTS, I choose that from the disc's language menu. Without DTS, I let it default to Dolby Digital. From there, the receiver does everything automatically.
