I came across this interview with Paul Brownstein, who has produced some of the very best TV-on-DVD sets over the past few years (The Dick Van Dyke Show, Hogan's Heroes, Gunsmoke). Brownstein is, obviously, a guy who cares about the preservation of classic/vintage television.

Brownstein's company did a superb job with the 4 appearances of The Beatles in four complete Ed Sullivan Show episodes. They ought to do the same with other performers who made multiple appearances (such as The Rolling Stones) and comedians (Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Bill Cosby).

    Thanks Bob.

What a great article. Mr. Brownstein is a treasure; someone who actually "gets it". Not only does he understand the concept of full length, untime-compressed episodes, he goes out of his way to add something special to his releases.

What George Feltenstein is to the classic feature film, Paul Brownstein is to the classic TV show.
