I know I or any of the F13 fans would never have the chance to do this and I know people who will be reading this post will be thinking " It is not as easy as it sounds "
But If I was an important role in Paramount DVD department, I would look at the what the statistics say regarding F13 Part 7 Directors Cut on DVD.
24,179 hits on the petition site http://www.angelfire.com/movies/jasonuncut
Director John Carl Buechler full 100% support
Paramount can contact him at [email protected] He should get back to you when he knows it is Paramount.
Lots of E-mails and Letters sent to Paramount.
And when I had analiysed those statistics, I would go to Paramount DVD board, Show them these statistics and say
" I think there is some money to be made in releasing Friday the 13th Part 7 Directors Cut on DVD. We are pleasing the F13 fans and we are making a profit "
Then go to the vault, find out the lost F13 footage and then take it to the DVD specialists and see what they can do with the clearing up of the footage.
Then contact John Carl Buechler, ask him to come in and put the footage in the right place. Then Produce the disc. Take it to the MPAA and get it passed, It should get passed today, There have been much more gorier things passed by the MPAA.
End Result = A Friday the 13th part 7 Directors cut DVD, Many, Many happy F13 fans and a profit or around $500,000 in paramount bank all through one DVD release.
I think this can be done. Mr Blythe if you are reading this, Please have a try at what is mentioned above. I understand the footage needs to be cleared and Passed, but If you could just at least try the above, I am confident the end result could happen.
Regards,
Ricky

Very good post, Ricky. However, I hope that they would not take the new cut to the MPAA and just release an unrated disc. Why? I've seen the cut footage and I don't think the MPAA is likely to pass it. When it comes to "slasher" films, I don't think they are any more lenient today than they were in 1988. Even if they let a few things by, we might still end up with a compromised version. John Carl Buechler's version is just not going to get an R rating. The MPAA would still see Friday The 13th in the title and break out the scissors.
I've suggested the following in a previous thread: Since special features don't necessarily have to be rated, why not simply have the unrated version considered an "extra," acessible under the special features menu with the R version as the standard version. It can be done with seamless or dual-layed. It's only a 90-odd minute movie.
As I said, good post Ricky. I think it's time to start pursuing this again. They do need to understand we are not going to drop this.

Thanks for the kind words will, I appreciate it.
I said Directors cut because Paramount seem AFRAID of the word cut. Directors cut does not sound as scary.
It would be great if we had the option of watching Friday the 13th part 7 R rated version and an unrated version.
We will just have to see what happens next september/october
I just wish that they could answer us one question.
What else do the fans have to do to get F13 part 7 uncut on DVD ???
My Blythe / Paramount if you are reading this could you maybe post a task that would change your mind ???
Maybe a 1000 letters in a month.
Would that change your mind ? Because that will happen if we know that would change your mind.
So if that would change your mind just say and there will be a thousand letters on your desk within a month.
Regards,
Ricky

I also don't see what would be the major harm in releasing both versions on the same disc. M.G.M did it with their new Dressed to Kill Special Edition.
I also don't see why Paramount couldn't use My Bloody Valentine as sort of a "test subject" and release it on DVD in an R rated and Unrated version, so see how well it sells. This would be the best idea, if they're still uncertain about what to do with the reminder of the Friday the 13th series.

I agree Wes, What MGM did was great. I think if Paramount did this with part 7 the fans would have more gratitude towards them.
I would love it if, Paramount responded with " Ok if there is a 1000 letters on our desk within a month you will see Friday the 13th part 7 uncut on DVD next september/October.
Like I said we can only wish.....

I do wish they would give us some kind of feedback on what's going on with this. I know Mr. Blythe has kindly asked us to be patient on the matter of the poll that was taken a few months back. I would just like some reassurance that they aren't just brushing us off and the idea of the director's cut is at least being taken seriously. There's still time for this to happen, but if John Carl Buechler isn't in the editing room by February or March, then it'll really be time to start worrying.

I doubt they'll actually release the director's cut next year. If you noticed with the Star Trek releases, now S.E.'s are planned(from what i've heard). So after 7 & 8-theatrical bare bones versions. Then maybe they'll actually release S.E.'s. Though if they do-they better not release only 2 a year since i'm getting sick of waiting, though if they actually get uncut releases-then i'll be happy & have to wait.
btw-if they do release S.E.'s of all or some to start off with. The uncut footage better be included IN the movie!
+ the smartest thing to do would release both versions on the same disc.
