That whole experience was so surreal...

From running into my sister and the reporter at the mall to the reaction from everyone after the story ran. Too funny.

And for the record...five years hasn't changed things.

  1. Jeez... Mike, you were known as the deal guy in 2004?!?!
  2. The writer described your sister as "elfin" - classic
  3. There's no mention of her _actual_ fruitcake website's address - does it still exist and what is site?

Thanks for posting. I happened upon this thread a while back when the new forum software was having one of its search farts, but the article had already been pulled off the TU's website.

Do you still work for the Assembly? I didn't even know the Assembly had an A/V department.

Since so many have commented on the article itself, I should note that the fella who wrote that article, Paul Grondahl, is an excellent features writer/reporter who works for the Albany Times-Union.

Interestingly, our paths have crossed many times as he has covered events which have touched my family over the years: from fruitcake to events at my kids' school to a book he wrote about the life of long-serving Albany Mayor Erastus Corning 2nd (mayor from 1941 to his death in 1983) and a number of other times as well.
