Hey Vince
My only note is more on the pricing and economics side of things.
This may have already been mentioned above and I just missed it, but I only have so much time to read these long posts while at work : )
DirecTv has a TOTALLY different pricing structure for New customers, and Existing customers.
You will wind up paying MUCH more to add a room onto your system once you have made your initial purchase.
DirecTv gives huge discounts on the hardware (depending on what type you get), so that it is just a "couple of bucks" more to add another room when you are a first time customer. But if you wait a month and then go to add on, you could find yourself looking at 100's more to do what $10-$20 could have done when you signed up.
I hope someone is going to try and proove me wrong by posting a link to some incredible special, but I doubt it. DirecTv is always trying to get new customers, and "all" their deals are geared towards that goal, so much so that they do a pretty extensive check as to whether you have had their service before when you signup.
All that being said, plan ahead before your initial signup as to how many rooms you want, and what equipment you will want in each room.
I have DirecTv in my LR, Kitchen, and wanted to add it to my MBR recently (Bedroom, not Bathroom : ) It was going to be close to a hundred for the new equipment and setup fees. If I had done this when I first signed up less than a year a go, It would have been 5-10 dollars to upgrade to the 3 room package and 5 a month for another rooms programming. The programming costs for these past months and extra $5 at setup would STILL have been cheaper than waiting to add on.
And all of this is compounded severely when you add in HD equipment. This all being said I still like DirecTv and look forward to keeping them as they have a great online system as Corey-Reid said.
I will post a little later about the quality issues I have found with SD programming via DirecTv. To sum up that is to say that they have a finite amount of Bandwidth for all their programming, and it shows on larger/nicer displays.
Anyway, its an honor to be able to give some insight to someone who has educated me so much, and helped fuel my desire for HT, much to the dismay of my wife : )
Sorry no time for spell check : )
