I am buying a new house and will be setting up a full theater in the basement and a very nice 5.1 surround upstairs in my living room. I have been collecting old school car audio for years and will be using some of the gear in the rooms. I will be making full 3 way dynaudios upstairs as I have enough for 7 channels of 3 way esotecs. Low end will be a pair of idq 10s and a phoenix gold. Cyclone. The theater will be using my pair of cerwin Vega stroker 18ds. I have a behringer inuke 3000 for them. But my question is.. Does anyone have any experience using 12 volt psu's running with lithium batteries for stabilization? I have 136 ah of the correct lithium for 12.5/14.4 volt applications. I also have hundreds of 2000 watt bitmain power supplies that I will be running off 240volt lines. I was thinking about using 5 of my pg zpas for the dyns. I also have an onkyo TX 515nr. I also have xeon servers for multimedia, one with an Nvidia 1070 and one with a 3060.

I have around 250 90s era amps, around 90 subs, dozens upon dozens of crossovers, equalizers, decks etc. Etc. Hundreds of sets of components.. I also have a full woodshop that I can build anything and everything in.

Does anyone run 12v gear with lithium in their houses? I run bitcoin mining farms and have access to literally thousands of power supplies.

Regards,
Jeff

And I have a real spl meter.
You do realize car speakers are designed for cars. Cars are a lot smaller than rooms.
With a lot more ambient noise. What's your point? You think that they won't get loud enough? I would argue just the opposite. I'll run a dats to get the parameters and I will build the enclosures to spec. I have plenty of home gear, some nice rbh stuff, custom Mackie speakers, Yamaha towers, Boston md8s, etc. I bet you I can build plenty nice speakers that will stand up to the most discerning of audiophiles.

IMO you're not going to be happy with those speakers but if you must use them, good luck!!

Can anyone tell me why? I'm quite experienced with winisd and bassbox pro 6. I can get the exact t/s parameters with a dats or from the manufacturer. I have an audison bit one and a minidsp 6x8 that I can use. But I will be using a laptop running dirac live to xontrol the sound. Unless I can find a good receiver option with dirac or a good pre amp with dirac. My cyclone will play down to 15 hz and my strokers are in a 12 cube box tuned to 30 hz. If you don't think some classic strokers won't get down.. Well I just don't know what to say..

I just think my custom dual mps2500s will look so cool powering the stroker 18ds. If I decide to go that route. I'm sure it's easier just buying off the shelf equipment. But that's not me. I want to diy as much as possible. I enjoy it. And 90s car audio has the best esthetics. Nothing can touch the era.

Other people have mentioned some reasons , namely that those speakers were made to move air ( produce sound) in a very small cubic volume of a car cabin. Putting them in an area 10-20 times larger in volume( you did not say what is the size of prposed rooms) will not have same effect as running them ins small cars of 1980’s era. You will probably need to run them at the higher levels to which will introduce a lot of distortion to the sound. It sounds like an interesting project though.

The stuff I collect is from the 90s but I do have a ton of later stuff as well. Like all those dyns were made in or around 2007. I have 7 or so sets. Enough to make a full 7.1 surround. That's where I am going to start. And this room will be more focused on music and normal television watching than the dedicated theater. But I think I will still use the cyclone in this room and maybe a pair of 10s or 12s. I love the idq 10s, but I have some solo 15s, spl 15s, orion 2ntense dvc 15s, etc. or maybe a pair of Fosgate hx2 12s? I haven't decided yet. But I do know that they all put out plenty of db's. And the dyns are esotecs so they are bangers as well.. And as I said I will be modeling them with bassbox pro 6 so I will make sure rhe boxes are ideal. Stay tuned.

You are obviously heavily invested knowledge-wise and equipment-wise in the car audio approach. Since most of us are likely primarily knowledgeable in more standardized HT equipment and approaches, your best bet is to run with it and show us the results. Otherwise, you may get more feedback on a car audio forum where you will find others with the same knowledge of equipment and approaches and may even find someone else that has tried using it within an HT environment.
