I think your son and my kids (10, 7, 4, and 2) would get along famously, because they all would sit in front of the TV watching Scooby Doo all day if we let them.  Mine look forward to when their mom has a meeting or something because they know I'll put a disc of Scooby Doo on for them with little hesitation.  They are looking forward to the new movie Big Top Scooby due in October and the first half of the second season of Mystery Inc. due in November.  I'm sure the former will be part of my October scary movie challenge viewing.
At first I just thought it was cute but now it's getting a little too much. Each time I put on an episode he remembers the monsters name and he can point out who's going to end up being the bad guy. He's also got a major crush on Daph right now. I screwed up when he was born by doing his room up in Toy Story. I just figured this is something he'd be into but he refuses to watch the movies. Now I'm going back and rebuying everything in Scooby.

Wow, Michael, three(!) already?? I'm pretty sure that little guy saw more movies then most before he could even talk. :D
It's certainly funny seeing how he's pretty much doing the same stuff I was when I was his age. Playing sports, liking Scooby and even the same foods. I tried the movie theater back in April but it lasted about ten minutes. I might try again since we've got a couple monster related things coming out.
Speaking of the theater.....I went to watch THE MASTER last night and the theater announced their horror titles playing next month and I was happy to see that NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD was one. Add that onto HALLOWEEN, FRANKENSTEIN/BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN and THE EXORCIST and we're getting some good titles this year. Of course, none of these were on my original list but I can't pass this up.

No movies? Well, there goes my idea for an experiment. The first baby, instead of Baby Einstein or something, raised on Griffith shorts.

Russell G,
You have been added.
Have I forgot anyone else?
Has anyone seen the Barricade bluray being advertised?
They are saying it's a whole new DVD experience.
Anyone plan on watching it?
Also, there is a new Resident Evil movie due out on bluray tomorrow.
Resident Evil: Damnation

I was going to skip it this year but then I just got sucked right in. I'm weak. I can't resist. This is
my placeholder.

PatW,
You have been added to the list.
Please, if anyone hasn't been added to the list yet, please let me know.
I don't want to leave anyone else out.
Anxiously waiting for October so I can watch my Cabin in the Woods blu-ray.
It's been sitting here tempting me.
I've already seen it, but I want to see it again on my home theater.

He actually loved watching the Jungle Jim and Tarzan movies when TCM showed them because of the animals.
I'm really careful what he watches though. About a seven months ago an idiot babysitter decided to watch one of the FINAL DESTINATION movies where there was a major carwreck and Dylan saw this. It really freaked him out and for a time he didn't want to get in a car. I think this is why he hates TOY STORY because I tried to show him part three soon after this and when the train went over the cliff he lost it. Needless to say, this babysitter never got a call back.

Sinister looks interesting. If my small town theater gets it I"ll go check it out.
Have you seen Home Movie from 2008? it's pretty different from that one probably, but would make a great warm up. I was very impressed with it. Good humor with the slow building scares.

Don't worry about not seeing AWIL.
I haven't seen Alien, that I feel embarrassed about. (I'm almost 40)
It will be interesting to see what films people will be seeing for the first time.
