Get this done while Richard Moll is still alive!
Let's be honest, this revival lives and dies on John Larroquette's participation.

I do think it's one of the few revivals that has a chance to be more than just a nostalgia piece. The premise is really fertile ground for an endless stream of odd and unusual characters.

True,

But I though Murphy Brown also had a chance

That was a fascinating one for me. Diane English essentially made the same show as before. But what felt fresh and topical in 1992 felt tired and stale in 2018.

For this to work, they'll need to shoot it like a 2020 sitcom instead of a late-eighties sitcom. Multi-camera is very hard to do well these days.

They did it well but they haven't done it in years. And they won't have Harry Anderson to join them.

^ Was just about to mention that. Brent Spiner came back as Data; surely they can get him to reprise Bob Wheeler.

And as long as Larroquette can still bring it, they'll be fine. As a kid, I really dug Larroquette on the show. I followed him from there and Blake Edwards' Blind Date (1987), and later on over to The John Larroquette Show, which I also really liked, though I couldn't get into either Second Sight or Madhouse. Then I didn't see him in anything until Richard Kelly's Southland Tales in 2007, and thought he was understated fun in that movie, too.

Style-wise, something in the vein of Brooklyn Nine Nine would probably be a good template, as far as contemporary "feel" goes.

Can't lose the title song either.

I really liked his show that took place in a bus depot at the lunch counter.
Another show that had many characters with fun personality traits.

His Americanized version of Fawlty Towers was just okay.

Larroquette was also on Marc Maron's WTF podcast a while back. I don't remember a ton about the conversation, other than coming away thinking he was pretty much exactly the guy I thought he'd be/hoped he'd be. He was really open about his battle with alcoholism.

Saw him last year on Blood & Treasure. It was nice to see him again.

I'd love to go back to Night Court.

If Rauch is in this I hope she doesn’t do a nonsense voice.

Unless I missed it, Larroquette is the only actor mentioned to appear in the series. Rauch is listed as a producer. Must be an omission. She’d be good appearing in the series.

At this point, Larroquette is pretty much all that's left from the legal side of the cast.

Marsha Warfield and Richard Moll are still going, but at 67 and 78, I wouldn't want to see Night Court's elderly bailiff curse get going again. And Selma Diamond and Florence Halop were both only 63 or 64 when they were in the series.

Yeah it’s doubtful that Moll will have anything to do with this revival.

Marsha Warfield currently has a regular guest role on Fox's 911 as Hen's mother.
