Well, the official story that I heard regarding the change was that people were confusing the movie with the actual Disney theme park attractions.

I read it was for sequel reasons as well.

Saw it yesterday, damn fun flick. Definitely picking up the DVD. Great to see a good pirate movie after so long.

"So what movie should we see?"
"Lets see Pirates of the Caribbean"
"What, the ride?"


pffhht. Its due to sequels, I suspect they found the movie to be turning out good and decided they wanted to make it easy for sequels, and did not want to have to go with "Pirates of the Caribbean 2"
