Mill Creek is releasing the 8 Showa Gamera films on Blu in April (1 Viewer)

Shout Factory's rights to the eight Showa Gamera films have expired and Mill Creek has picked up the license and will release them on Blu-ray. Details and cover art at SciFi Japan.

Sci Fi Japan's Keith Aiken talked to Mill Creek and they told him these will be one disc and the reason they do not have the English dubs is that they didn't have access to all of them, so they opted to only have the Japanese tracks. They also said that they went back and fixed a bunch of the subtitling errors found in the previous releases.

Hopefully bd-50's, at least. Otherwise, who cares? Four movies on one bd-25 would be pointless.

Since I have the first 8 from Shout in SD and the last 3 in BD, what's the point of buying them again?

To have the first 8 in HD on Blu-ray.

Yeah, I know but I really don't think that the Gamera films are double dippers. What we need is the Japanese Godzillas with English subs...now those are double dippers!

I do think it is funny/sad that there is a major Godzilla remake coming out this year and only 5 or 6 Godzilla films will be out on Blu, while every Gamera film will be on Blu. (Classic Media's response to the new Godzilla movie is to reissue their old Godzilla DVDs )
