give or take a few hundred.

I have 48 inches of wall space (width) to deal with. Looking for best picture quality LCD or Plasma for my bucks. I watch mostly sports (SD) and HDTV and DVDs. I would say my viewing is probably 20/50/30 HD/SD/DVD.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Just looking for a place to start my research.

Additionally, what is the difference between ED and HD plasmas? can't you just add an HD box to the ED for HDTv?

You may have noticed, I prefer plasma.
Best blacks and 3D effect I've ever seen.
The Panasonic's and Fujitsu's have the better blacks, if that's a concern to you.
I'd sugggest you check out your choices at your local A/V store, just to get an accurate frame of reference.
Your eyes will be the best judge.
If you can, bring along some DVDs to watch.

Wow, only four feet of wallspace? That's very small!

Yea it's a strange setup. it's for over my fireplace, and the area is 'bumped out' so anything bigger would be hanging over the edge. not happy with how it's setup, but it's a smaller room so don't want to go too much bigger anyway
