Here is a very interesting article about the restoration of the "Sunrise" film elements. These restored elements were used by Fox for the DVD. Sunrise restoration article
now I just have to pick up another Fox classicI wish I could do that too! But it's complicated for Europeans to take advantage of the Sunrise offer from Fox.
Perhaps the fact that the BFI has this information on their website is hopefully good news for the futureI hope so too. On the other hand the article is there because of their involvement with the restoration of the film elements. They also have articles about the restoration of other silent films they have been involved with, like "Napoleon" and "Violettes Impériales" - none of witch have been released on DVD by anyone.

What was on the Sunrise Laserdisc besides the filmOuttakes and a new score (not re-recording, but a brand new score) by Timothy Brock. Some liner notes were also provided.
I don't have it, but that's what is listed for the LD. The DVD is going to be miles ahead...
I heard rumors that the Timothy Brock score from the laserdisc was dropped in favor of a new Carl Davis score.Patrick,
Where did You hear this? I know Carl Davis did a re-recording of the original movietone-score in 1995. Would that be it?
Whoa whoa whoa, hold on there.Don't worry! We are only talking about an optional "second" music score. The original Movietone is, of course, included. (Timothy Brock's score was the "second" alternative on the LD.)
